Yorkshire tops the trust table in Moneywise Awards

Yorkshire Building Society has been named Most Trusted Financial Services provider and Most Trusted Savings Provider in the 2013 Moneywise Awards, highlighting the faith placed in the UK’s mutual sector.

Now in their fifth year, the Moneywise Awards are determined by an annual survey where over 20,000 British consumers offer their opinions on the service they receive from companies that provide financial products, and also which companies they trust most to look after their interests.

Moneywise said the results showed that on the whole the traditional banking sector was still let down by an approach seen as self-serving, at best, by many customers who continue to rate mutual companies and newer brands far more positively.

As well as claiming the two awards, the Yorkshire was also Highly Commended in the Most Trusted Mortgage Provider, Most Trusted Home Insurance Provider and Most Trusted Cash ISA Provider categories, further validating its position as one of the most trusted providers of financial services in the UK.

The wins come as the latest in a string of awards for the Yorkshire Building Society Group, taking the total number of awards won by the Group for its products and services to nine so far this year.

Chris Pilling, Chief Executive at the Yorkshire commented: “As a mutual, building long lasting and trusting relationships with our members is at the heart of what we do.  We truly are an organisation that has been built on trust for almost 150 years and we’re delighted this has been recognised by British consumers.”

Commenting on the wins, Mark King, Editor at Moneywise added: “Congratulations to Yorkshire Building Society for winning the big one. Customers told us the Yorkshire is an ethical organisation that looks after its customers by not treating them as opportunities for profit, but as people. This is a wake-up call for many larger financial services providers who fail to do the same.”
